Are you rehearsing an old story?
Are you rehearsing an old story?
Is there an area of your life you’d like to take to the next level? You might want to lose the extra pounds you’re carrying; or to be generating a higher income or have a wonderful relationship.
We say we want these things but we keep telling ourselves why we can’t have them. We tell ourselves, we’ve never been able to get the last five pounds off or that it’s so hard to break our current level of success or it’s always been a certain way in our past relationships.
Richard Bach wrote,
“Argue for your limitations, and sure enough they’re yours.”
When you repeat these limiting beliefs or rehearse the old stories you’re cementing these ideas into your unconscious. Our unconscious only knows what you tell it and it doesn’t know if it’s true or not. Think of a time you were worried about something that hadn’t happened yet and you didn’t even know if it would. You may have started to feel anxious, your nervous system was responding as though it were happening. Or if you’ve ever gone to a scary movie and you know you are sitting safely in the theater but you were scared anyway. This is your unconscious responding to what you are telling it.
Start to rehearse the stories you want to experience.
Rehearse that it’s easy to maintain your ideal weight or that ideas for creating your next level of success easily come to you.
This is why a written vision for your life is so important. You start to tell your unconscious what it is you’d like to create. Then it can go to work to on ideas of how to achieve it.
This week I’d like to invite you to notice what old stories you are rehearsing that don’t serve you and to replace them with ones that are in alignment with your ideal life.
