Are you Living in a “Get” Mindset?

Anytime you hear yourself saying or feeling, “I’ve got to get… more investors, more clients, more money, more time" -- know you are coming from a mindset of lack. When you must "get" something, you are not coming from already having it; therefore, you’re not being a match for having it. Instead, you’re being a match for not having it, because you need to get it... and that, in turn, signifies that you don’t have it.

A little confusing? This is an important concept to “get.”  😊

In "As A Man Thinketh," James Allen writes, “Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are.”

In order to be a match for the things we say we want; we need to first shift our mindset.

Where in your life have you been living with a “get” mindset?

To start shifting your mindset, it may help to know that 97% of people live in the Have-Do-Be mindset.

Most of us have been trained in struggle patterns:

  • When I am successful, I’ll do the things I want, and then I’ll be happy.
  • When I am in the relationship I want, I’ll go on dates, have a companion, and then I’ll be happy.
  • When I have the approval of others, I’ll do what I think they want me to do, and then I’ll feel confident.

There’s a different way to live life. We want to live from a Be-Do-Have mindset. 

Zig Ziglar said, “You've got to be before you can do, and do before you can have.”

The first step is to BE. Be the person who is living the life you’d love NOW. You cannot wait until your vision has come into form. BE generous now, even if it's on a smaller scale, and you will begin to know what it feels like to give to the causes that matter to you.

If we want to BE a certain way, it takes changing our thinking about ourselves and our circumstances.

DO – To achieve the results we want; we must take action. But in taking action, we must BE the person who has achieved the results we want. That person has a certain level of confidence and different habits than we currently have. They also think differently than we routinely do.

HAVE – Once we are in action as our future self, we can have different results and we can create the results we’d love.
