How Old Do You Feel?

My birthday is tomorrow. Every year when I have a birthday, the number gets bigger! 😊 Funny how that works. The number is now big enough that I am having the thought... how did this happen? I feel at least 10  years younger than my age.

How old do you feel?

I’ve been thinking about how I want to “grow old” and I’ve decided: I don’t want to "grow old!" I want to keep growing, but not old. I want to continue to expand my awareness and enjoy my life to the fullest right until the end. Sports have always been an important part of my life and I want to be able to keep riding my bike for the rest of my life.

I used to have a vision of my husband and me in our 90’s. We were sitting on our patio holding hands and feeling content. Then I realized that’s not the only thing I want to be doing at that age. I also want to be lifting weights and riding my bike and so much more. So, why wouldn’t I be envisioning that? Now, I have a different vision.

We want to be telling our unconscious the story we want to be living. When we think a certain way or when we emotionalize something, we are sending ourselves messages. Instead of putting our attention on our fears and problems, we want to direct our attention to what we would love.

I would love to be riding my bike with my husband well into my 90’s. My attention is now on that vision when I think of having a higher age number. I am not thinking about “growing older” any more.

Of course, the Universe gave me a perfect example that my vision is possible on my recent bike trip in Italy.

We came upon a man who is 91 years old. He was way out on the back roads by himself on a bicycle. And he wasn’t on just any bike: he was riding a 1970’s bike. The man participates in L'Eroica in Tuscany, Italy; a race on ancient roads using obsolete bikes. Only bikes made prior to 1987 are allowed to enter.

Here was this vintage man riding a vintage bike. I was thinking, "YES! If he can do it, I can too!" Above is a picture of him... check out his water bottles! 😊

What’s the image you’re holding of your health or your life? Do you allow yourself to go to the thoughts that you can have what you desire, or that you can’t?

As Henry Ford said, “You think you can or you think you can’t, either way you’re right.”

The current state of your health doesn't matter. Don’t let your circumstances stop you from taking the very first step; which is to vision up what you would love to be experiencing, in terms of your physical health and mental wellbeing.

Be firm with your thinking and remember that YOU get to decide what thoughts you think and what images you hold.

Here’s to living your dream,

Cyn
