The Third Agreement – Don’t Make Assumptions
The third agreement in Don Miguel Ruiz’s book, The Four Agreements, is “Don’t Make Assumptions.”
In this chapter, Ruiz reminds us that assumptions are made-up stories that we believe to be true, even though we don't know all of the details. When we make assumptions, we put ourselves and our relationships at risk--when all it might take is a thoughtful conversation to change our perspective altogether.
When we take the time to ask the right questions and listen with an open mind, we are able to gain greater clarity of the world around us, which can lead to a healthier and happier life.
